Weekly Update

This week, Prime Minister Keir Starmer unveiled Our Plan for Change, a bold and practical vision to transform the country. Elected with a mandate for change, this Labour Government is committed to a decade of national renewal through five ambitious missions—priorities rooted in the lives of working people.

Our plan sets clear, measurable milestones that the British public can hold us to by the end of this Parliament:

* Building 1.5 million new homes

* Clearing hospital backlogs

* Putting police back in every community

* Ensuring a record number of children start school ready to learn

* Delivering secure, home-grown energy

This transformative agenda is built on the bedrock of economic stability, national security, and strong borders. Here in Enfield North, this roadmap offers a clear and hopeful destination for the future.

This Labour Government is about putting service above politics, confronting tough realities, and taking the hard decisions in the national interest.

Marking World AIDS Day with UNISON

It was an honour to attend UNISON’s World AIDS Day reception, held during the Year of LGBT+ Workers. This inspiring event highlighted the incredible work UNISON’s London LGBT+ group has done this year to fight discrimination and promote equality.

Labour is proud to lead on this issue. We’ve committed to ending all new HIV transmissions in England by 2030, and last week the Prime Minister pledged an additional £27 million to expand the highly successful emergency department opt-out testing scheme. Together, we can achieve an HIV-free future.

Constituents Visit Parliament

What a pleasure it was to welcome constituents to Parliament this week! From attending PMQs to enjoying guided tours, it was fantastic to connect with so many of you.

Interested in experiencing Parliament for yourself? My office can arrange free tours or tickets to the public gallery so you can watch a debate. Just email me at feryal.clark.mp@parliament.uk to book.

Festive Cheer at the Enfield North Christmas Party

One of the highlights of the year! This week, I hosted the annual Enfield North Christmas Party in Parliament. It was wonderful to welcome friends from Enfield and share some festive cheer. A special thanks to Lord Patrick Vallance for his inspiring speech.

Tackling Crime in Enfield North

I’m dedicated to cracking down on antisocial behaviour and strengthening neighbourhood policing in Enfield North. This week, I met with the Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Cohesion, the Head of Community Safety, and the Chief Inspector for Enfield Neighbourhoods to discuss key policing issues.

An Update on Car Meets

I know many residents have been concerned about disruptive car meets in the borough. I’m delighted to announce that, working alongside Labour colleagues at Enfield Council, we’ve secured an interim High Court injunction to ban these meets across Enfield. This gives the Council and police greater powers to address dangerous driving and antisocial behaviour.

Thank you to everyone who submitted evidence. This is a significant step towards making our streets safer.

Grenfell Tower Inquiry Debate: Never Forgetting

On Monday, the House of Commons debated the conclusions of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry Phase 2 report. We will never forget the 72 lives lost or the loved ones left behind. Their resilience has driven change.

The Government has committed to:

* Strictly enforcing safety regulations

* Holding landlords and the construction industry accountable

* Remediating all unsafe buildings of 11m or higher by 2029

Additionally, the Grenfell community will be honoured with a lasting memorial. Everyone deserves a safe and secure home, and we must ensure that such a tragedy never happens again.

Tackling Stalking: A Vital Step Forward

On Tuesday, the Minister for Safeguarding and Violence Against Women and Girls outlined new measures to tackle stalking. These include:

* Statutory multi-agency guidance to define and address stalking

* A review of stalking laws to improve enforcement

* Courts being empowered to impose stalking protection orders

* Giving victims the right to know the identity of their online stalker

Too many victims live in fear, and these changes are essential. I welcome the Government’s action to prioritize the safety and well-being of stalking victims.
