About Feryal
My name is Feryal Clark, I am the Labour Member of Parliament for Enfield North. I have represented the Enfield North constituency for over four years and have a record to be proud of. I have supported thousands of residents and local businesses that have come to me with the most urgent of issues, especially during the COVID lockdowns, and more recently through the cost-of-living crisis.
I grew up in the London Borough of Hackney, where I came to serve as a councillor from my mid-20s. My background is in science, having studied Biomedical Science followed by a Masters in Bioinformatics at university. As someone who worked in the NHS in Pathology for six years, I’ve seen it at its best – a world class service with some of the most talented people you could hope to work with.
I served 14 years as a local councillor and a member of the cabinet for nearly a decade and was Deputy Leader of the council for 2 years.
I have a keen interest in the environment having served as Cabinet Member for Environment for 6 years, where I led on transformative initiatives to tackle and improve air quality. I led the development of play streets and school streets initiatives, creating places for young children to play on their doorsteps in spaces usually dominated by cars.
As your Labour voice in Westminster, I will continue to work hard for you and be on your side in these challenging times.
Change is coming
Conservative chaos left less money in people's pockets or for our struggling high streets. The opportunity to secure an affordable home, a decent job and a good standard of living is no longer available to many. After 14 years of Tory government, nothing seems to work in Britain anymore. But it doesn't have to be this way. I live in Enfield North with my husband and two young children. My family rely on the same local public services as you do. I know things need to get better, which is why we need a Labour Government that is on the side of working people.
People are suffering – from the highest taxes in 70 years, spiralling mortgage rates and rent, NHS waiting lists at nearly 8 million, crumbling school buildings, and rivers running with raw sewage. Locally, I have been supporting the hundreds of residents who come to me for help, every week, often in despair and dire need.
Following the results of the General Election on July 5th, Labour is now beginning the process of rebuilding this country and focussing on its promise of national renewal. This will not be easy, but the hard work starts now.
We now have a Government on the side of working people. One that will fight our corner. One that will fix our public services and neighbourhood policing. Fix our NHS. Grow our economy. Invest in genuinely clean energy. Secure our borders and recruit 6,500 teachers.
And once again, you have a Member of Parliament that is on your side. Thank you for putting your trust in me. I will not let you down.
